Shimano Ultegra PD-6700 SPD-SL Pedal

The Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL PD-6700 Pedal is Shimano’s second generation Ultegra SPD-SL pedal. The most visible change from the 6610 is the wider platform. The larger platform size provides more surface area to spread the rider’s weight over and makes for easier entry.

Shimano also replaced the plastic cover over the body with a stainless steel plate. This enhancement improves the pedal’s response (no sloppy movements here) and increases the mileage of the pedal. The stainless steel plate will not wear out like the plastic plates do.

In many ways the Shimano Ultegra PD-6700 SPD-SL is the same as the Dura-Ace PD-7810 version. The difference is in the bearings, weight and cost.  To lower the cost the Ultegra PD-6700 uses a less expensive 2 bearing system and a heavier axel which adds a few grams to its overall weight.
