We love this new iclic system by Time. The iClic system works much like a ski binding in that the mechanism is open until you place the cleat into the pedal. After you unclick, a little trigger keeps the pedal in the open position until you are ready to click in again. Or rather, until you are ready to ‘iclic’ again.

The Time iClic Carbon uses the patented CarboFlex compressed carbon blade to replace the traditional coil-wound metal spring that used to lock in your cleat. This not only significantly decreases the weight, which is down by 43% as compared to the titanium spring in previous Time pedals, it also improves fatigue resistance.

The full carbon body has a nice wide platform with very low bio-position so you get optimal power transfer. On a recent ride, we couldn’t stop raving on how much more precise and power-filled these Time iClic Carbon pedals were.

The axle on the Time iClic Carbon pedals is made with a super lightweight, hollow steel axle so its strong yet appealing to the weight conscious rider (aka: Weight Weenies). With all the lightweight this and lightweight that on this pedal, these beauties weigh in at only 235 grams per pair.

You will need iclic specific cleats for these pedals, but the new cleats are very low profile and even lighter than ever before. These pedals were definitely designed to be lightweight, durable and amazingly easy to use.
