Sci-Con saddle bags are probably the finest bags on the market, regardless of what design or style you choose. We found them to be stylish, durable and remarkably well designed.

The smallest in the line is the Sci-Con Phantom 230 Pro Carbon saddle bag. It virtually disappears behind your saddle while still giving you enough room to tuck away a tube, tire lever and patch kit. Or perhaps you’d rather pack in some CO2 cartridges, the cell phone and your keys.

One of the first things we noticed about the Phantom 230 Pro Carbon was the wide mouth. The extra large zipper opens a full 180 degrees to give easy access to the contents inside while leaving a generous flap so nothing will accidently fall outside. Yeah, we’ve done that too, who hasn’t.

The minimalistic aerodynamic design is made of Carbon Fibre and Cordura Dupont fabric so it’s quite durable. Plus, should you need to remove the Sci-Con Phantom 230, just twist it off. The Sci-Con series has a roller system that attaches the saddle with a single bolt clamp so you can just twist it and roll, leaving the clamp on the bike ready for your next adventure. The saddle clamp will work with all standard two rail saddles, except the Selle Italia Thoork and the Signo series. Their two rails join at the rear of the saddle.

One quick tip for installation, tighten it only until the mount is firmly in place, never over tighten, it is plastic so it will break if you really torque it. We learned that from experience.
