If you’re one of those boyscout riders who likes to be prepared for anything, Sci-Con made a bag just for you. We affectionately call the Vortex 480, “the whale”. This one is the largest in the Sci-Con series, measuring in at a whopping 30 square inches, yet even at this size there is no worry about rubbing. The Vortex 480 saddle bag’s pear shaped design keeps it thin and tucked in by your seat post to house your energy bars, keys, cell phone, tubes, Co2, tools, etc, etc, etc.

The super silent wide mouth zipper gives you easy access to your stuff. And with more bottom than top, everything stays in the bag as it should. So, now that you’ve read the description and you can see the product, do you understand why we call it “the whale”?

The body of the Vortex 480 is made with ABS so the body structure will retain its shape. The Carbon Fiber & Cordura Dupont® fabric keeps the bag strong and durable. Plus, Sci-Con added some 3M reflective tape on the bag for increased visibility. We all know you can never have enough reflective tape when you’re out at night.

Thanks to Sci-Con’s unique twist off roller system, taking the bag with you is easy. Just twist it off of the single bolt saddle clamp and the bag is free to go, leaving the clamp on the bike ready for the next adventure.

One quick tip for installation, tighten it only until the mount is firmly in place, never over tighten, it is plastic so it will break if you really torque it. We learned that from experience.

The saddle clamp will work with standard two rail saddles with the exception of the Selle Italia Thoork and Signo saddles (their two rails join to one at the rear of the saddle).
