The Look Erogstem HSC adjustable stem is hands down the most versatile stem on the market. Originally developed for track and time trials, the Look Ergostem provides adjustments and very low handlebar positions that are not possible with a traditional stem. We’re not kidding with this. With almost infinite adjustments on this adjustable stem, you can dial in ANY handlebar position you can imagine. When we played with it, we found so many handlebar positions that we gave some of them Kung Fu names like the Tiger tip and the Flamingo bend.
If you can’t seem to find an exact riding position you feel comfortable with, this fully adjustable stem from Look has the solution to your peril. The length adjusts from 0mm all the way up to 150mm. The height adjusts from -120mm up to +120mm. Now if you still can’t find a comfortable position in that range, perhaps it’s not the bike.
Anyone who ever used the 2008 Look Ergostem fell in love with it. This year Look updated the design for 2009 to include a high tech removable face plate to give you ultra-easy installation. Now you don’t need to remove your STI or Ergo levers to use the Look Ergostem. We like that feature.
Between all of us here at WKYC, we’ve tried them all, Ritchie, Salsa, Bonti, Deda. None compare. Not only does the Ergostem by Look offer us a comfortable ride, but no one here noticed any slippage from the stem and many of us felt that we had better steering because of this fantastic adjustable stem.
It is a little chunky so you weight weenies may have issues with it’s hefty 365 grams, but if you’re not too concerned with weight you can certainly benefit elsewhere by utilizing its infinite positions. The Look Ergostem HSC adjustable stem fits 31.7 and 31.8 bars as well as 1 1/8” steerers.
