In the pedal industry Look is the 26 year reigning champion and the Keo 2 Max Carbon is a reminder to all of Look’s dominance.

The Keo underwent design reviews starting in 2008 morphing the Keo carbon into the 2010’s Keo 2 Max Carbon. With a larger platform and improved bearings that give you better transfer. Weighing in at 122g, there is a small increase in weight over the 2009 model, but considering you get a 12% increase in size with only a 6% increase it weight, it is worth the trade. With the use of injection molded carbon they are still of the lightest pedals in their category while remaining as durable as ever.

The 2010 Keo 2 Max Carbon also gives you a newly designed stainless steel plate over the extra-large axle to increase pedal life as well as surface durability. And are they smooth! Wow.

Inside the pedal are two miniature ball bearings (12mm inner x 18mm outer diameters) as well as a needle roller bearing. All the bearings are sealed so you can count on lower service, long bearing life as well as a super smooth ride.

Another addition to the 2010 model are the addition of 14mm threads on the axle that allow you to adjust the Q-factor by up to 2mm with the use of specific washers (not yet available).

The Look’s quality control department puts the pedal through a million cycles at 100 revolutions per minute with an almost 200 pound load at the center of the pedal. They compound this with an eccentric rotation to replicate a bump with each turn. This test goes above and beyond current testing requirements.

They didn’t change the cleat. Still the Keo grip cleats with the built in rubber contacts. Since they didn’t change the cleat, they are compatible with your current Keo cleats, both regular keo and keo grip. And, with the new larger platform, it’s even easier to clip in and out.

Side Note : These are the very pedals that Look gave to Alberto Contador who pushed past the crowd to win the 2009 Tour De France. Resulting in another yellow jersey to add to his 2007 win; which, by the way, was also done on Look pedals.
