In the wide world of “cyclocomputers”, the BC 1606L boasts one of the largest screens on the market. The display is super big with super big numbers so you can get your stats at a glance. And super easy buttons so you’re not reprogramming it accidently while cruising down Deadman’s Curve. There are seven language settings so if you want to pretend you’re riding the Tour De France, you can switch to French to get yourself more in the mood.
Sure, you get all the basics, average speed, max speed, current speed, clock, countdown, odometer, speed comparator, stop watch and trip distance. And all with no wires to contend with. We liked the wireless aspect. Keeps it clean! And clean is good!
You also get cadence with this model. If you’ve never tried a bike computer with cadence, the BC 1606L is a good computer to take the plunge with, you will never go back.
More good news, the Sigma BC1606L with Cadence has a nice memory function so when you change the battery your long term info will be saved (total mileage, setup info, etc). Plus, there’s a low battery indicator that allows you to change it BEFORE it dies on you during a ride.
As an added bonus, the installation is quick and easy, shouldn’t take you more than 20-25 minutes and you’re on the road. Get a second sensor and you can switch between bikes with ease. All around, it’s a great little computer that is durable and does the job well.
Side note: If you were an Avocet fan, try the Sigma on for size. Its quality German engineering and huge display should win you over.
