So, you’re looking for a bike computer and are thinking about getting an entry level computer. Mavic has a not so entry level, entry level WIRELESS computer, with cadence, for your biking pleasure.

The Mavic Wintech FS Computer, with cadence, allows you to see speed in kph or mph. You get average speed and max speed, it also has a trend indicator to tell you if you’re above or below your average. It gives you trip distance, total overall distance and it gives you the distance from your other bike unit or trainer, if you have it hooked up as well. You get a clock, stopwatch, and nine intermediate clocks.

But wireless? Won’t that interfere with other wireless devices? Well, that’s where the Wireless Integrated Network, appropriately called WIN, comes in. And it does WIN our vote for reliability. They’ve switched the signal to a more stable 2.4 Ghz frequency and they’ve integrated an inner voice to the CPU so YOUR computer is always checking to make sure that its talking to YOUR system. In layman’s terms that means there won’t be any confusion if anyone is riding next to you with his own Mavic Wintech Computer, or a PowerTap.

And speaking of signal, once you’ve properly programmed your Mavic Wintech FS Computer, it can automatically detect two different wheel sensors and a trainer mount. So you can easily switch between bikes without having to reprogram.

The Mavic Wintech FS batteries should last for 18-24 months of regular use and they use the same standard watch battery (CR2032). The display is large with easy navigation. It mounts cleanly on the bar (26 or 31.8) with a sleek new double axis bracket mounting system that allows you to rotate the screen to your desired angle for clear viewing. Sure, you still have the traditional fork sensor so you’ll need to use zip ties, but if you thread them through correctly you should have no issues.
