The Alutech stem by ITM is made with AL 7075, an aluminium alloy, with zinc as the primary alloying element. It is strong, with good fatigue strength and average machinability, but has less resistance to corrosion than many other alloys. Its rigid construction ensures that it won’t flex on you, even when you’re really cranking.

One of our favorite things about the Alutech stem is the four bolt removable face plate. We are big fans of the four-bolt front plate. Two-bolt front plates concentrate pressure over a smaller area and require more force per bolt to hold the bar securely, so they can be a hassle. The four-bolt plate offered here spreads the clamp force over a greater surface area and, therefore, does not stress the bar so much. Not to mention the fact that if one of the bolts fails on a four bolt plate, its no big deal.

The Alutech stem comes in a standard black, which weighs in at only 130 grams and an absolutely gorgeous white gloss finish to match your other Alutech parts weighing in at 144 grams. That’s lighter than the carbon wrapped versions!
