In full time trial mode you ride on the saddle nose - that's the most forward and powerful position. Riding in very aggressive aero position (steep drop saddle to elbow pads; forward saddle, etc.) makes it really hard to generate good full power. Road position is optimal for power output of the human body. But remember, the more radical the change, the bigger your loss. On the other hand, the gain in aerodynamics will require less power for maintaining a certain speed. The art of TTing is to find the best compromise depending on the course profile and condition and in finding the best saddle to set your soft parts on.

Designed specifically for Time Trials and Triathalons, the San Marco Aspide TT will get you there faster with significantly more comfort in the groin.  The Aspide TT has more padding on the nose to support you while you race for the best time.  It is pretty much impossible to relieve the pressure in that area unless you put all your weight on your arms and elbows in which case there would be too much weight on the front.

The Carbon Fiber Reinforced Shell has variable carbon percentages throughout the saddle so it will keep its shape over time.  And the CFRS allows the saddle to be strong, flexible and very lightweight.

Of course, the standard way of getting more power and relieving the pressure is to tilt the saddle forward.  This may not be so important with the San Marco Aspide TT because the nose of the saddle is equipped with additional biofoam padding to make this racing saddle more suitable for those in need of immediate comfort for the short, but important TT ride.

The cover of the saddle is called “Microfeel”, sounds soft, and it is.  This synthetic cover is 5% lighter and 35% less likely to deform than the standard covers on the market today.  It’s also a very breathable fabric so the sweat won’t stick.

The Carbon Waist rail system has multiple layers of carbon with an internal strengthening waist made out of aluminum.  So these rails are lightweight, yet extremely strong.  Do note the clamp surface is oval shaped and is incompatible with side clamping seatposts.

The San Marco Aspide TT weighs in at only 150 grams and its 283mm length and 130mm width.

Overall, we found the San Marco Aspide TT to be an extremely comfortable saddle for an aero position.

Note – the rails are oval carbon and are incompatible with side clamping seatposts.
