Just to save everyone a lot of time, let’s start with this: If you are a fan of padded saddles, this will not be a happy place for your butt. The SMP Forma Saddle has absolutely no padding. Zip, Zilch, Nada!

If you’re still with us, here are the specs. New for 2010 is an extended version of the SMP Strike Composit called the Forma. Much like the Strike Composit, the Forma has a minimalist design, but the Forma offers more sit bone support with an additional eight millimeters of width. It is also longer by 10mm, (Composit is 263mm, the Forma is 273mm). We like this because it offers additional positions to shift to while riding. As for weight, the SMP Forma saddle is a bit heavier because of the extra shell material, so it weighs in at 230 grams.

As with all SMP saddles the Forma is handmade in Italy. It is built with a composite shell wrapped in soft and supple leather. The central channel of the Forma saddle varies in width (3-5cm) to contour the body and allow continuous circulation of blood flow in the prostate, artery of the penis, scrotum and testicles. The front section of the SMP Forma saddle with its beak-shaped design offers excellent support when pedaling hard and prevents your genitals from getting squashed in the process. And, the outer mid-section is designed to follow your thigh muscles to maximize blood circulation and pedaling power.

Increasing the length and width on already popular saddles seems to be the Modus operandi for SMP this year. They’ve extended the length and width of the Carbon Strike to make the Carbon Lite and now they’ve extended the Strike Composit to create the Forma. So if you are a fan of the SMP line, but have more gear in your rear, this is good news for you.
