This chain is so quiet, you can train in the nursery while the baby is sleeping! It may be the fact that the Record 11 chain is designed to work with the Super Record, the Record, and the Chorus cassettes so it completes the Ultra Shift technology that Campy is so proud of. The Record 11 chain has an even thinner width of only 5.5mm, which is also what helps keep it quiet. There’s also less friction from the adjacent sprockets and chainrings . But it’s not just the silence, it’s the shifting that is not only smoother, but faster as well. Part of the Ultra Shift technology is a reshaping of the outer links which mesh up perfectly with the cogs on the cassette, especially the ones with the santa hat shape to guide them through the shifting pattern more easily. All this combined with a Ni-PTFE anti-friction treatment on the outer links gives the Campy Record 11 about 20% longer life than previous campy chains.

One thing that must be addressed in regard to the Record 11 chain is the need for a new tool. Installation requires the use of the Campagnolo UT-CN300 chain tool because the new 5.5mm chain is too thin to be installed with your old chain tool. That’s the bad news. The good news is that your Record 11 chain is compatible with all the Campy 11 speed drivetrains which so far include the Super Record, the Record, and the Chorus.
