The Deda Blackstick seatpost is constructed using a technique that supports structural load by using the object's external skin as opposed to using the internal frame or truss that is then covered with a non-load-bearing skin. Monocoque construction was initially used in aircrafts in the 1930’s and makes superior bike parts. This monocoqued method makes the Deda Blackstick seatpost lighter, and more refined than other posts on the market today.

The carbon body keeps it ultra-lightweight and the magnesium alloy head makes it strong enough to withstand more pressure. As far as materials go, it doesn't get much better than this. The ribbed head design holds securely, and is reasonably granular.

The Deda Blackstick has a single bolt clamp that is CNC’d for strength and durability. That is both a positive and a negative as the CNC keeps it strong, but the single bolt is questionable. If you like the Blackstick, but would prefer a two-bolt clamp, check out the Deda SuperZero which is an upgrade from the Blackstick, has all the same great qualities, but with a two-bolt clamp.

The Deda Blackstick seatpost comes in a matte varnish finish. It’s available in two diameters: 27.2mm and 31.6mm. The setback is 23mm and it weighs in at 199grams.
