It consistently boggles the mind when companies who have a stellar product with a loyal following decide to stop making that product. It’s happened so many times over the years that there must be some logic to it. We don’t get it. The Selle Italia Turbomatic saddle is one of those products that were taken off the market for several years only to make a comeback due to popular demand.

We’ve known people who were so in love with the Turbomatic, that they stockpiled saddles after the discontinuation so they would never be without. Like Jan Ullrich for example, who sported a Selle Italia Turbomatic his entire racing career, only using a lighter saddle for time trials.

The new and improved Turbomatic has the same shape and style as the original with a few notable improvements thanks to modern technology. First off, the weight has been significantly reduced thanks to the use of a carbon rail system, the strongest of its kind. The newer model weights in at a reasonable 220grams as opposed to the original 290+grams. They’ve added gel inserts into the sitz bone area to ensure a cushy ride as well as a flex in the nose for additional comfort. There’s still the Elastomer shock absorption to cut down on the road vibe. These are all additions that should take the Turbomatic to an all new level. You can also get a Turbomatic with Gel Flow cutout.
