Wondering what the difference is between the Campagnolo Record 11 chain and the Chorus 11 Ultra Shift chain? Here’s the breakdown. The width is the same at 5.5mm wide. This narrowness keeps the chain from interfering with adjacent sprocket and chainrings. Of course, this results in smoother, quicker shifting and a quieter ride. None of the prior chains in the Campy line up can boast those characteristics, but Record 11 and Chorus 11 Ultra Shift can. Another element that adds to the quicker shifting on the Chorus is the reshaping of the Ultra Shift’s outer links. That not only gives it a 20% greater longevity, but it weighs less too.

Another similarity between the Chorus 11 Ultra Shift and the Record 11 is the Ni-PTFE treatment they undergo. This process is designed to give the chains additional smoothness and durability while still keeping them super silent.

There is one place where the two significantly differ, that’s in the chain pins. The Record version has hollow chain pins that save a bit of weight (-14g) whereas the Chorus 11 Ultra Shift chain has solid chain pins. Luckily the Chorus 11 Ultra Shift has that new outer link shape we mentioned early to balance out the added weight. Fortunately, the solid vs. hollow issue doesn’t affect the smooth, quick, and easy shifting that these chains are known for.

The Chorus 11 Ultra Shift chain requires the Campagnolo UT-CN300 for installation. It’s a bit pricey, but it will allow you to easily and accurately install your shiny new Chorus 11 Ultra Shift chain.

The Chorus 11 chain is compatible with all Campagnolo 11 speed drivetrains -- Super Record, Record, and Chorus. The Chorus 11 Chain weighs in at 258 grams.
