With a width of only 5.9mm, down from the original 6.1mm, its no wonder Campy is calling their new Record 10-Speed Chain, the “Ultra Narrow”. 0.2mm may not seem like a lot when you’re dealing with something like a Century ride, but when you’re talkin’ bike chains, a 0.2mm difference in width is all about the quiet factor; that wonderful silent ride. That’s why Campy reduced the width of the chain by as much as they possibly could.

The Record 10-Speed Chain has been put through the ringers at the Campy testing facility and thus far it has proven itself to be just as resistant to torsion and flexion as the prior generations of the Record 10. It also scores the same when it comes to traction force, pin retention force, scratch resistance, stretch resistance, and wear. Plus, Campy says the rear derailleur adjustment is actually smoother with the thinner chain.

The weight of the Record 10-Speed Chain is 250g, which is only a 4g savings from the 2nd generation Record 10. This new chain still utilizes the one time use HD-Link.
