Mavic has done it again. If you are looking for a set of wheels that show the road whose boss, look no further than the Mavic Ksyrium SL Black. These Ksyrium SL aerodynamic wheels stay true for miles and miles and miles.
The Mavic Ksyrium SL‘s strength comes from a combination of the box section alu rims and the alu bladed spokes. The rims on the Mavic Ksyrium SL’s are made with a Maxtal alloy which is said to be 30% tougher than the 6061 alloy that is commonly used. The durability is off the charts! In fact, we’ve known of riders who have hit massive pot holes that would smoke other rims and their Mavic Ksyrium SL’s came out unscathed.
The front rim is 22mm deep, this makes it lighter more stable in cross winds and at high speed descents (after all, what goes up, must come down!) The rear rim depth on the Ksyrium SL is 25mm this gives the rear wheel increased rigidity and resistance to flex. According to Mavic, this ratio gives the Ksyrium SL’s their superior power transfer. Another interesting tidbit about these rims is the oversized carbon fiber front hub which is expressly designed to shave off a few extra grams from the total weight. But wait, there’s more, they also come with Mavic's QRM+ bearings that are double-sealed so they will last and last. Plus they allow for micro-adjustments so you can be sure of precise bearing pressure.
