SMP has brought to market a line of saddles that mimic their top of the line saddles without the top of the line price. The SMP Extra is the model comparable to the SMP Lite 209.

Coming in a bit wider than the popular SMP Lite 209, the SMP Extra will give you all the comfort of the Lite 209 without the Lite 209 price. No, it doesn’t have the nap leather covering like the Lite 209, but you get a soft polyurethane synthetic cover that is strong and smooth.

Just like all SMP Saddles, the Extra is handmade in Italy. The Extra offers the same unmatched soft tissue relief due to the signature end to end cutout and beak nose that you’ll find in the entire SMP Saddle line. The Extra has heavy rails, which is what sets it apart from the hybrid which uses the lighter rails of the more expensive models. The rub is in the weight. If you’re looking for a lightweight saddle, you may want to go with the Lite 209 as the Extra comes in at a whopping 395grams.

Overall, the SMP Extra is a well-designed saddle with a full-length cutout allowing for excellent blood circulation. There is a good amount of surface grip; not too slippery as you might imagine a synthetic cover could be.

SMP Extra Saddle Key Features:

The central channel of the Extra saddle varies in width (1-2.5cm) to contour the body and allow continuous circulation of blood flow in the prostate, artery of the penis, scrotum and testicles.

The front section of the SMP Extra saddle with its beak-shaped design offers excellent support when pedaling hard and prevents your genitals from getting squashed in the process.

The design of the outer mid-section is shaped to follow your thigh muscles to maximize blood circulation and pedaling power.
