The Campagnolo Shamal Ultra Wheels are the result of years of wheel building and are jam packed with innovative features. All in an effort to make them lighter, faster, and durable.

The rims on the Campy Shamal Ultra wheels are perfectly balanced using their dynamic balance technology. Where many other rims are heavy near the weld, the Shamals overcome this issue. Not your regular extruded aluminum rim at all, these wheels are CNC machined to leave more material around the spoke nipples and leave other areas thin. Perfectly balanced to remove any hopes, these wheels inspire confidence in sprinting and high speed descents. It’s so effective that the tubular and clincher versions are the same weight. The front and rear rims are also different heights. The front rim is 26mm deep and the rear 30mm. This helps lighten up the front that doesn’t take as much abuse as the rear.

The Campagnolo Shamal Ultra wheel brings back the G3 spoke technology. On the rear wheel with 21 spokes, there are two spokes drive side for every one spoke non-drive side. The spokes are bladed aluminum which help make this medium dish wheelset more aerodynamic. The front wheel gets the same straight pull bladed aluminum spokes but in a standard radial pattern with only 16 spokes.

The hubs on Shamal Ultra wheelset are fantastic. Using the same inner construction methods as found on their record hubs the Campy Shamal wheels shed a few extra grams with the addition of carbon fiber and aluminum flanges. The result is the same smooth feel as the record. With the hub also comes a new skewer system that is easier to use.

Many of the Campagnolo Shamal Ultra features lean towards weight savings but it’s not specifically a climbers wheel. In fact the Shamal Ultra is positioned as multiuse wheel. It’s medium dish rim and bladed aluminum spokes make it great on the flats. The weight savings add to its great climbing and sprinting characteristics. The Shamal Ultra really a multipurpose wheel.
