The SRAM Red OG-1090 Cassette is a marvel of modern innovation. While many have moved to putting multiple cogs on one carrier, SRAM made the carrier the cogs – true innovation.

While all other cassettes have traditional cogs, some cogs on a single carrier, the SRAM Red 1090 is milled from a solid peace of chromoly steel. This makes it a 3 piece cassette. The first 8 cogs are all part of one body and hardened with a nickel finishing. It’s 35% harder than titanium and 15% stiffer.

Not only is the manufacturing of the cassette improved upon, but the 1090 cassette implements OG, or “Open Glide” tooth ramping. This allows for even faster shifts over non-OG SRAM cassettes.

This innovative milling process also translates into weight savings. The OG-1090 cassette is a light 155 grams in their 11-23. Compare this to Shimano Dura-Ace or Campy Record and this is lighter without the use of less durable titanium.

The SRAM OG-1090 is compatible with any Shimano 9 or 10 speed freehub, SRAM 10 speed chains, and Shimano or Wipperman 10 speed chains.
