It wasn’t more than 5 years ago when major Italian saddle makers would tell you sit bone width had nothing to do with saddle fit and that cutouts were only required in small form, not large end to end designs.

As the story goes the Selle SMP design was pitched to Selle Italia and San Marco, both turned down the design before the small Selle SMP company took up the challenge. As if to tip their hate to SMP both San Marco and Selle Italia have made an about face to this position, be it slow.

San Marco was the first to cave, and they released the San Marco Mantra. Today, Selle Italia delivers us the SLR SuperFlow. In short, it’s very similarly to their popular SLR design but with a cutout nearly ended to end and almost a carbon copy of the San Marco Mantra. Take a traditional saddle and give it a massive cutout.

Selle Italia’s SLR SuperFlow cutout is 18.5mm wide at the front and 34.7mm at the rear with a total length of 194mm long. To date it’s their most ergonomically correct designed saddle – you can thank SMP.

The shell is constructed of 30% carbon and you get their eva padding wrapped in real leather. The cherry on the top, if the large cutout wasn’t it, is round titanium rails. The rails are a shocker as we’ve been told for years Ti rails were too expensive and brushed off when we request titanium over new alloys. To make matters more interesting, their SLR Flow has a vanox alloy and the SLR TT has hollow Ti. The SLR SuperFlow get’s standard ti rails.
