Forte translated to English means ‘strong’ and this is dually true for the Elite SuperCrono Wireless Forte trainer.
The heart and soul of this trainer is the brake unit and ‘strong’ doesn’t begin to describe it. At 15mph the SuperCrono Wireless Forte can provide up to 430watts of resistance and has a max wattage of 800. Offering a strong mid range as well as a top end.
The brain of the Wireless Forte is an ANT wireless handlebar computer that provides a host of data points while offering control over the brake unit in the rear; all without cables. While in use the computer shows speed, power, heart-rate, cadence, time, distance and current resistance level. In a program it will also display a grade map. The computer can be used in three different modes. Constant Power, Levels and Present Programs.
In Constant Power you determine the desired power level with the 2 side buttons and the computer works to keep the brake unit at that level. Levels allows you to manually adjust from the 16 levels of resistance from light spin to maximum braking resistance. Preset Program offers a varied training program where the computer will adjust the braking of the unit to simulate climbs, flats and descents. There are 10 different ‘profiles’ available. More than enough to keep the most discerning of us entertained. Off the trainer the computer has all the possible data points you could want from details on speed, distance, power and heart rate.
The frame, called the SuperCrono is an improvement of the original Crono frame which has been beefed up with a square steal based and four floor contact points. The trainer frame simply doesn’t flex underneath you. Like the original Crono frame design the SuperCrono Wireless Forte frame uses a self regulating frame that transmits the force on the resistance unit in relation to the weight and position of the rider. This means that the Elite SuperCrono Wireless Forte won’t require that you re-adjust the pressure on the rear tire, just mount and ride - your body weight does the rest.
The resistance roller is coated with ElastoGel. On the Elite SuperCrono’s Wireless Forte, the ElastoGel rollers are now 50% larger (45mm, 15mm more than the usual 30mm ones) to give you better distribution of tire pressure and better tire adherence, making them more tire friendly, plus the larger roller, gives you lower RPM’s for less overall vibration and a lot less noise.
