Admittedly our experience with dual cylinder high volume high pressure pumps of years past had us very nervous that the JoeBlow Ace was going to fall flat on its face. To our pleasant surprise this pump is aces.
The key to its successful implementation of high volume high psi on the Topeak JoeBlow Ace Floor Pump is the ability to switch between low pressure, 60 psi, medium pressure, 120 psi, and a high pressure mode of 200 psi. Topeak found that by combining a small and a large cylinder in different combinations allowed for more flexibility.
How it works. In the 60psi mode, stage one, both barrels provide air. In stage two only the large barrel is in use and for stage three you have the small barrel offering low volume high PSI. This allows this pump to high a max PSI of 260.
The amazing engineering doesn’t stop with the two barrels design. The JoeBlow Ace Pump is constructed largely out of metal with a solid base. The gauge at the bottom, built into the base is large and easy to read. The hose is long. Long enough to pump your bike in a bike stand. And if this all wasn’t enough, the Topeak SmartHead automatically adjusts to fit Presta and Schrader valves, and with a built in air release button, it’s the nicest pump head we’ve seen from Topeak.
Just put it on the valve, clamp, and start pumping.
