The ISM Adamo Road  is the little brother of the Racing II with more padding with an infusion of gel and Cr-mo rails. The result is a slightly wider saddle, gaining 5mm in width but with the added comfort of gel. It’s designed for a road position with hip angles from 0 to 90 degrees.

Similar to how a Selle SMP saddle has a slight dip on the nose the ISM Adamo follows suit. What is vastly different is twofold. First, the intended position ISM wants you to have, and secondly, the placement of the cutout.

ISM intends that you spend most of your time on the middle of the saddle or off the front. This design gets your bits further forward and off the saddle. This alone gets nearly half of the intended benefit – no numbness or pain. Secondly, ISM offers a wide cutout that starts at the middle and goes to the front, where as an SMP saddle has an end-to-end cutout.  ISM in effect is creating two ‘beams’ of foam that run between your crotch and leg, right at the fold. Placing the pressure here saves your soft tissue and prevents restricted blood flow. The Achilles heel, however, is that noses on an ISM Adamo saddle run a little wider than average. However, this design is so effective the same model is both male and female friendly.

Pay attention to setup as setting up this saddle is slightly different than your regular saddle. It’s designed for you to spend your time at the midpoint to front. Proper setup will have 2 inches of rear saddle exposed when you’re at your furthest point rear on the saddle. You’re not to ever hit the end of the rear. Expect to see the top and side embroidery when you’re setup correctly. For this saddle more than any other, playing with the position is key. It’s truly unique shape will require tweaking and getting used to it. Don’t expect it to feel comfortable your first ride. It didn’t for us.
