Made with the famous 30% carbon composite shell found throughout the SLR line, the Selle Italia SLR XP boasts weight weenie seducing numbers as well as the distinctive design found only in the quality Italian saddles of Selle Italia.
Designed for professional athletes, the the Selle Italia SLR XP has refined style and a sleek, minimalistic design with more padding than the SLR Ti or the Kit Carbonio. As always, the saddle is a most personal choice, so we can only review what we have experienced ourselves. We found the SLR XP to be a supportive and comfortable saddle with no rubbing or chafing of any kind, despite the additional padding. And man, is it lightweight!
As is the case with the entire Selle Italia's SLR line, these saddles are constructed using a nylon shell, which is said provides the necessary flex that plastic does not. The padding is EVA, which is lightweight, closed cell foam, so it is wonderfully comfortable although comfort is a relative term when it comes to saddles. The rails on the SLR XP are tubular Vanox, which are designed to provide additional flex that compliments the padding in the saddles.
Overall we found the Selle Italia SLR XP to be an excellent saddle, but your derrière may feel otherwise. All we can do is comment about how we liked it. The one thing about this saddle that we noticed is that it’s not made for the larger rider.
