And the winner of the 2009 Tour de France is, Alberto Contador!  The crowd goes wild!  And what did Contador ride on to the big win?  Why, the Look Keo 2 Max pedals, of course.  So as a natural progression to honor this great cyclist of our time, Look has made a maillot jaune edition of the Keo 2 Max victory pedals.  Complete with a signature by the man himself.

The bright color isn’t the only thing that will stand out on the Contador version of the Keo 2 Max.  These new yellow wonders have a longer threaded portion of the forged chromoly axle which was Look’s answer to giving the pedals a greater adjustability of the Q-factor.  No other pedal can boast this additional adjustability.

The Keo 2 Max pedals underwent design changes in 08 & 09 to provide the 2010’s a larger platform that gives you better energy transfer so the power you give it is the power it gets.  The Keo 2 Max Contador pedals weigh in at 130g/pedal.  This is a small increase in weight, but considering you get a 12% increase in size with only a 4% increase in weight over the 2009 Keo Sprint model, it is well worth the trade.  With the use of an injection molded composite they are still one of the lightest pedals in their category while still remaining as durable as ever.

The 2010 Keo 2 Max Contador also gives you a newly designed stainless steel plate over the extra-large axle to increase pedal life as well as surface durability.  And are they smooth!  Wow.
Inside the pedal are two miniature ball bearings (12mm inner x 18mm outer diameters) as well as a needle roller bearing.  All the bearings are sealed so you can rely on lower service and a longer bearing life as well as a super smooth ride that seems to get better each year

To be sure your Look Keo 2 Max Contador’s will go the distance, the quality control department at Look put the pedal to the metal by pushing it through a million cycles at 100 revolutions per minute with an almost 200 pound load at the center of the pedal.  They compound this with an eccentric rotation to replicate a bump with each turn.  This test goes above and beyond current testing requirements.

They didn’t change the cleat, so it’s still the Keo grip cleats with built in rubber contacts as durable and easy to walk in as ever before.   Since they didn’t change the pattern, they are compatible with your current Keo cleats.  And, with the new larger platform, they are even easier to clip in and out.
