For the 2012 edition of the Vuelta a Espana the organizers chose to send the Peloton up a new road, Cuitu Negru. Cuitu Negru is a 4km climb with ramps approaching 30% and an average grade of 17%. Facing this road even Alberto Contador was uneasy.   The solution came from Sram.  For 2012 Sram has released a Wifli version of their Red rear derailleur.  In simple terms Wifli is a medium cage rear derailleur, this allows the user to fit a 32 tooth cassette without trouble.  

Now you might not be grinding up a 20% grade anytime soon, and that’s ok, using lower gearing will allow you to comfortably spin up any climb.  And to do so without the additional weight and complexity of a triple setup.  This new derailleur gets the full Red treatment, Ti bolts, ceramic bearings, and liberal use of carbon fiber.  If you are looking for extended gearing and demand only the best available, look no further.
